Only a year after founding Alo Coffee Export Plc, Tamiru Tadesse had built an international reputation and won 1st Place at the 2021 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence, furthering his mission to secure fair recognition for Sidama Bensa’s smallholder farmers.
Seeing how extraordinary coffees from his home region were undervalued, Tamiru created Alo Coffee to help farmers turn their organic, high-quality cherries into premium lots and reach specialty buyers who reward them properly.
Based in high-elevation Alo Village (2,400 masl), the company pays premium cherry prices, provides agronomy training, leads community projects, and manages all post-harvest processing—reducing risk for farmers and improving livelihoods across the community.
